Direct Blinds are committed to doing what they can to protect the environment today and for future generations.
As a UK manufacturing company, we employ local people and wherever possible and practical, source our materials from local suppliers, minimising transport and our carbon footprint.
Direct Blinds as a manufacturer follows the model of 3 R’s – Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.
We work hard to reduce wastage both in our day to day work and in our manufacturing and packaging processes. As you would expect paper and printing has been reduced dramatically in recent years and our goal is to be paperless wherever possible. To keep our costs and therefore our competitive edge, we strive to reduce the wastage of materials in our blind manufacture. Packaging has been refined to ensure we protect our goods sufficiently well whilst not using unnecessary extra resources for simply aesthetic benefit. In simple terms. the more we reduce the less we have to recycle and reuse!
Our range of solar, energy saving and blackout blinds help to control the heat and light resulting in lower summer and winter energy usage and costs. Thermal lined Roman blinds and curtains are also great for insulation.
Transport is reduced by sourcing locally wherever practical, the vast majority of the blinds we supply are made by ourselves in our own factories and workrooms whilst most others are made to measure within the UK.
In-house we shred and re-use our waste cardboard for packing goods securely, rather than using new materials such as bubble wrap. Undamaged boxes used to supply us with goods, are reused wherever possible to send out goods.
All cardboard used in our packaging is recyclable and in many cases, is also produced from recycled materials. Our packaging is marked appropriately to stimulate recycling. We advise to recycle or upcycle our products when they are no longer needed.
Waste aluminium from our in-house venetian, roller and vertical blind manufacturing is recycled helping to preserve this valuable natural resource.
Any recyclable general waste is collected and recycled throughout the business.
